KIRCHTURMSCHLÄFER - work in progress

i have decided to upload some work in progress for a change.. kirchturmschläfer.. which translated into english sort of means.. the sleeper on the churchtower. a vision .. i had.. sleeping happily.. relaxed right on top there.. not because it is a church.. but because the church tower usually is the highest place of the village.. so.. right on top.. no care in the world.. watched and guarded by.. kind spirits.. ancestors.. guardians....... i am using gouache, intense pencils and have applied masking liquid in some places....... hope to.. or might just finish it today......

The Tarn - Der Bergsee

Bergsee_final_unframed_small

there is a little story to this.... when i was small, my parents would go hiking and take me along, way up in the Alps. we'd take a cablecar to the mountain top and walk from there. on the way down, there was a small tarn, or mountain lake. sometimes it was turquoise in colour.. then deep blue...then light blue. i was fascinated by this lake.. and my mother told me stories.. of mermaids, magic fish and a water princess .. and how this was all connected to the water changing water colour ...

gouache and pastel pencil on heavy watercolour paper
9"x12" - 125lbs
23x30,5 cm - 270 g/m2
